Material Sampling

  Our team has developed a range of defect removal and surface sampling machines.

A surface sampling technique has been developed where a spherical cutter allows a scoop of material to be removed from an in-service component. The technique utilizes an exceptionally fine cutting process, which removes the minimum material required and leaves a very low stress concentration point at the sample site.

The sampling equipment can be remotely positioned and operated allowing samples to be taken from harsh environments. From each sample we can provide a detailed report to give chemical information, metallographic information and material properties.

The sampling machines are also used to remove material defects and prevent crack propagation.

Our implementation engineers can carry out sampling around the World from off-shore oil rigs to vessels and pipe work within Power Stations.
